A flash back arrestor is designed to protect the user by preventing dangerous backflow of fuel or oxygen into the torch. It is placed between the gas cylinder and torch to stop an explosion if a flashback occurs. This device allows the gas to flow through but prevents any flow back in case of a pressure drop or interruption to the gas supply. The flashback arrestor MS0463833 by Messer is made of an epoxy-glass composite material according to EN731. It has a maximum working pressure of 25 bar (oxygen) and is especially suited for cutting, welding and heating. The flashback arrestor is a safety device that prevents the ignition of potentially explosive fuel-air mixtures in torches and lines, which might be created by sudden backflow or overflow. It also extinguishes any flame in the torch (flashback).
