• The slurry is applied to the surface in two coats after which it can be left to set or covered with a thin layer of sand. The first coat should be allowed to dry out before the second coat is applied. The second coat should be allowed to dry out before covering with sand.
• The Trubuild Tanking Slurry has been designed to give maximum protection from both water penetration and external attack and has been tested under severe cyclic loading conditions of up to 4500 kN/m² (500 kips per square foot).
• Trubuild Tanking Slurry can also be used as a substitute for cement mortar in areas where high compressive strength is required such as retaining walls or foundations etc.

How to Use

Preparation of Substrate

• Tanking Slurry is a high performance wall coating that can be applied to a wide range of surfaces including brick, stone and concrete. Suitable for use with; brick, stone and concrete surfaces. It is recommended that sources of water and damp are removed. A damp proof course should be employed
• All contact surfaces must be clean and sound, and free from dust, grease particles and loose material or previous coatings. The surface must be prepared using abrasive tools, jet washing or wire brushing and any debris removed with clean water. Surface defects, such as holes, cracks or fractures should be filled with repairing mortar.

Preparation of Slurry

• Pour the quantity of water into suitable mixing bucket / container
• Slowly add the powder to water whilst continuously mixing with a mechanical paddle/stirrer
• Mixing should be continued until all the powder is homogenously combined into a “creamy” consistency
• Do not mix more product than can be applied in a 60 minute period

Coating

• The process is the same for horizontal and vertical surfaces, however you may need to apply the slurry in two coats, the first with a vertical brush application and the second with a horizontal roller application.
• Apply the first coat to a thickness of 2mm in a vertical direction, working the slurry into any pinholes, crevices or edges thoroughly with a brush. Rollers can be used over larger sections but the surface should be inspected for any gaps or breaks in coating.
• The slurry needs to be a continuous film for it to be effective, this is especially important at the floor/wall junction. Inspect the coating after approximately 3 hours for breaks or gaps. If the film is consistent, touch dry and fully adhered, apply a second coat horizontally as this will ensure complete coverage of the substrate.

Limitations and Precautions

• Trubuild Tank Slurry is a thin setting coat for use in the walls of tanks and vats. It is a fast drying, dense coating that provides a smooth, hard surface which will not absorb water. It is easy to apply with a brush or roller, dries quickly and can be overcoated after 3 hours.
• Trubuild Tanking Slurry is available in 1.5kg bags or 25kg drums (subject to minimum order requirements).
• Do not apply over plaster, wallpaper or paint as the dampness will be retained under the Trubuild Tanking Slurry and cause the plaster, wallpaper or paint to fail taking all subsequent coatings along with it
• Not suitable for wood, plastic or fabric
• Not suitable for Gypsum based plasters
• Good ventilation is essential for correct drying and curing of product
