AEC Spring Callipers 8 Inches 200 mm (set of 3 pieces) Spring callipers are used to measure inside and outside diameters, depth and height. These calipers have a spring-loaded design which allows for them to be opened wide enough for measurement, then closed precisely with a lever. The steel measuring edges are hardened and ground to tolerance. The body is made from cast iron. The jaws are held in place by a screw clamping mechanism.
The caliper has two opposing jaws that can be locked in the open position by pushing down on the thumb piece, which extends out of the top of the instrument so you can easily access it with your thumb while holding the caliper in place with your other hand. When positioned correctly over an object, this thumb piece will prevent any movement while also allowing you to hold onto the object securely while taking measurements or when making adjustments. The end of each jaw has a small hole drilled into it so that you can attach a string or thin wire if needed to help guide you in taking measurements. These spring callipers are ideal for measuring diameter, depth and thickness. The spring action allows you to take accurate measurements without struggling to keep the jaws open. They are also great for clamping workpieces in place while you work on them. The jaws are hardened steel with serrated teeth for extra grip and the knurled handles provide a good grip when taking measurements or clamping workpieces.
