Submersible Control Unit Components There are several components in a submersible control unit that determine how it operates. Pump motor - In most cases, the pump motor is connected directly to the drive shaft so it turns with it when activated by the control circuit board. The motor can be either AC or DC powered, depending on the model type you purchase. AC motors usually operate more efficiently than DC motors because they consume less current than DC motors do at maximum load currents Submersible control units are used for the operation of submersible pumps. The submersible control unit is a combination of the pump and motor in one unit. The unit is mounted on top of a pump, which is located below ground level. The submersible control unit has a vertical discharge pipe that rises up out of the ground to allow water to be pumped from below ground level. Control circuit board - The control circuit board contains logic circuits and electronics that regulate power to the pump motor. It may also include sensors that measure water temperature and pressure. Some models have an internal battery backup system to preserve memory when there is a power outage.
