When using a crimping tool on a terminal, two crimps are made simultaneously: one is the electrical connection between the conductor and the terminal, and the other is the insulation crimp, which provides strain relief against vibration and tension. It's important to ensure a tight electrical connection, with no air gaps between the wire strand and the terminal. Gaps can cause corrosion, resulting in resistance and excessive heat, which can compromise the electrical connection. Using a quality crimping tool ensures a completely airtight crimp and prevents future deterioration of the electrical connection and insulation. JST WC-PUD1 Manual Crimping Tool Overview. This crimping tool is ergonomically designed for comfortable use and includes two soft-grip handles, a ratchet mechanism, a precision ground die assembly, a locator, and a wire stop. The die assembly features three cavities for wire sizes 22 AWG, 24 AWG, and 26 AWG. The tool's preset force is easily adjusted. Ratchet Mechanism: The ratchet provides a preset pressure and remains locked until the handles are fully closed and the dies are engaged. The handles cannot be opened until the crimp cycle is complete, preventing partial crimps. The handles open once the crimp cycle is complete. The ratchet ensures consistent, repeatable crimps. In the event of jamming or misplaced terminals, an emergency ratchet release lever allows the handles to be easily opened. Locator and Wire Stop: To ensure accurate terminal placement during crimping, this manual crimping tool features an easy-to-use flap-style locator. The locator easily opens, ensuring the terminal is inserted on the correct side. Once the terminal is inserted, the locator snaps back into place and the crimping tool closes to the first ratchet. The stripped wire is then inserted into the terminal until it hits the wire stop. The hand tool remains closed until the ratchet is released. The locator opens, allowing the fully crimped terminal to be carefully removed.
