Bolt seals are primarily used for high-security protection of goods during shipping and transportation. They provide a tamper-evident seal, ensuring the integrity of containers and preventing unauthorized access.
The bolt seals are specifically designed to be single-use, tamper-evident closures. It implies that they require a specific procedure to remove without leaving a visible trace, and it is needed to deter criminals from interfering with the attached object.
Different manufacturers offer a range of possible modifications. Some manufacturers provide the possibility to choose the bolt seal color, add the company’s logo, or apply a special unique number or a custom barcode, which can be easily scanned and tracked.
Bolt seals are easy to apply and typically require no special tools. They consist of two parts: the bolt and the locking mechanism. To apply the seal, insert the bolt into the lock and push it until it clicks into place, securing the lock. The seal is tamper-evident, as any attempt to force it open will damage the interlocking edges. To remove the seal, it is generally cut with a bolt cutter.
