IP cameras, or Internet Protocol cameras, are digital video cameras used for surveillance. They differ from the typical CCTV cameras in that they are capable of transmitting and receiving information via a computer network, as well as the internet. This feature, in turn, allows for video feed access and ease of control.
The resolution is quite important; it can be said that it is the critical feature of IP cameras as it is directly connected to the image quality. The possibility of “seeing more” refers to the ability to see more details in the picture. One of the pros achievable with higher resolution is the option of zooming to see the recorded material closer without excessive loss of clarity. most applications, a resolution of 1080p is sufficient to meet the needs effectively.
Each camera type has its advantages: while IP cameras are able to provide better image quality, electronics surveillance capability, and video analytics, traditional CCTV is less costly and easier to install.
The camera is able to connect via either of the two basic ways: it is either wired and uses the known Ethernet, which provides a relatively higher speed and is more permanent in terms of installation, or wireless, which, nowadays, usually means that it connects via Wi-Fi.
IP cameras can operate offline by saving recordings to local storage, such as an SD card or an NVR. However, in offline mode, the camera is not connected to a network, making the recordings inaccessible for remote viewing.
