The Loom Mono Perc Solar panel is a 440 Watt solar panel with a 10 year manufacturing defect, 25 years degradation. The Mono Perc Solar panel has a surface area of 30.48 square feet and a nominal power of 1350 Watts. The Loom Mono Perc Solar panel is the only solar panel on the market that has a built in power inverter and charge controller, making it possible to replace an existing electric water heater with this efficiency solar water heater. The Loom Mono Perc Solar panels are made in China and they come with a 10 year manufacturer defect warranty and 25 years degradation warranty. The Loom Mono Perc Solar panels are designed for residential use. The defects have been traced back to the glass on the monocrystalline cells. These monocrystalline cells are supposed to be held in place via a thin film of adhesive which helps hold together the glass and silicon. Many of these solar panels are produced with defective adhesives or adhesive that is improperly applied. The result is that often times when the solar panels are put under high temperatures, the adhesive fails and it causes glass shards to fall off of the silicon wafer and stick to the back of the panel.
