IB Basics presents Melamine (Non-Magnetic) White Board 2x3 Feet (60x90 cm), Pack of 1. The standard whiteboard on most office walls is a magnetic surface, and while these boards are handy for posting notes they can be a problem. Magnetic whiteboards attract metallic objects such as paper clips, staples and pens, making them frustrating and dangerous to use. This can be dangerous for not only the user but for any person or electronic device that walks near the board. Additionally, magnetic whiteboards have been shown to have a negative impact on the MRI readings of those who lie beneath them.
Not a lot of people know about the drawbacks of magnetic dry erase boards, or maybe they just don’t think about it. The biggest issue is that non-magnetic surfaces don’t allow you to use magnetic erasers. If you’re like me, you probably own a lot of magnets! They are used for countless applications: organizing tools and hardware, holding up stuff on your fridge, holding pictures on your wall, and much more. I don’t want to be limited to only using the ones that stick to my whiteboard.
A second issue with magnetic whiteboards is that they will always have some level of magnetism left over after their surface has been erased. This residual magnetism can cause certain devices (such as hard drives) to malfunction. Magnetic fields can also cause problems with credit cards, cell phones and other electronics that contain magnetic strips.
The frame is manufactured from ‘Genius’ series feather-light (1.0 mm thick) satin-finish alloy aluminum 6063-T6 sections that provide pleasing aesthetics with adequate stiffness to the board, and a precision-engineered paper honeycomb core makes the board warp-resistant, rigid and flat.
