The purpose of a gearbox Hollow O/p shaft 337 Size is to increase or decrease the speed of an enclosed drive. As a result, torque output will inverse the speed function. If the enclosed drive is a speed reducer (speed output is less than speed input), the torque output will increase; the torque output will decrease if the industry increases speed. To understand this, think of how gears work in your car engine. The engine's crankshaft spins twice as fast as the wheels do when in forward gear, but because it is coupled to a gearbox with a ratio of 2:1 (two teeth on one shaft and one tooth on another), it drives the wheels at half its speed. You can see how the above principle would work here: when going from first gear to second gear, it might first seem as though there would be no change in output—the car's wheels are still moving at half of what they were in first gear. But because second gear has four times as many teeth as first gear does, its ratio changes from 2:1 to 4:1—that means that for every turn of the crankshaft, there are four more turns by the wheels.
