Stanley Wood Chisels have an oil hardening process which gives them a toughness of HRC56-58, much higher than other brands. The steel is also hardened to ensure that it stays sharp for longer while retaining optimum strength. The blades are ground on both sides and have a flat back, so they will not roll away when you set them down on your bench or work surface
Scalers can be constructed from high-speed steel (HSS), tungsten carbide (TC), or ceramic. HSS scalers are inexpensive but must be sharpened frequently; TC and ceramic tools are more expensive but require little maintenance and sharpen themselves when used
