The TeSys LRD is a thermal overload relay with differential device, which provides a thermal adjustement dial and allows a manual-automatic reset selector. It includes a test selector for simulation of a tripping, reset and stop buttons. The device is mounted on the bottom terminals of 3-pole contactors LC1D40A-D80A.

The TeSys LRD is designed to protect 3-phase motors 15kW@400V. It has a tripping class 10A and a thermal setting range 23-32A. It detects phase failure and load unbalance parameters by using an internal current transformer (CT). The device features an adjustable voltage drop across the CT (1...2V) to meet the requirements of IEC 60947-4-1:2013 (equivalent to EN 60204-3:2009), which is essential for the detection of phase failure in 480Y/277V systems. The differential function is performed by comparing the voltage drop across CT with reference values stored in memory. When there are no failures, the output remains deactivated when there is no fault present (zero difference).
