The Omron Power Relay G6B is a power relay designed to control high-power loads such as air conditioners and motors. It is a type of isolation transformer, with multiple polarized secondary windings. The G6B allows the user to control the power supplied to a circuit by opening and closing a pair of contacts. The contacts are opened by energizing the coil, which lowers the voltage at the load to zero. Opening the contact(s) allows current to flow freely through both sides of the load, effectively disconnecting it from the power supply. Closing the contact(s) raises the voltage at the load to full line voltage, supplying current to the load. The G6B has two modes of operation: AC (adjustable) mode, and DC (fixed) mode. In AC mode, one side of the load is connected via a normally open contact, and the other side is connected via a normally closed contact. The switching state is controlled by adjusting the amount of current flowing into an auxiliary winding; in DC mode, both sides are connected via normally open contacts. A number of versions of this device are available for different types of loads: inductive loads such as motors, capacitive loads such as fluorescent lights and neon lights, etc.
