A tax invoice is an official document issued by the seller to the buyer, detailing the sale of goods or services along with the applicable taxes (such as GST) on the transaction. It serves as both a proof of purchase and a legal document for the buyer to claim input tax credits (if applicable) and for record-keeping purposes.
Key Components of a Tax Invoice:
1. Seller’s Information:
- Name, address, and GSTIN (Goods and Services Tax Identification Number) of the seller.
2. Buyer’s Information:
- Name, address, and GSTIN (if applicable) of the buyer.
3. Invoice Number:
- A unique identification number assigned to the invoice for reference.
4. Date:
- The date the invoice was issued.
5. Description of Goods/Services:
- Details of the product or service, including the quantity, unit price, and total price.
6. Tax Details:
- The GST rate applied (e.g., 5%, 18%, 40%).
- Breakdown of the taxable value and the GST amount (CGST, SGST, IGST, etc.).
7. Total Amount:
- The total cost of the product or service, including taxes.
8. Payment Terms:
- Payment method and due date (if applicable).
9. Other Details (if applicable):
- Discounts, shipping charges, order number, etc.
